Unique Places to Visit in Downtown Charleston, SC

Charleston, South Carolina is truly a beautiful, historic, and fantastic place to visit. These are just a few of its hidden treasures that are unique and only found in Charleston.

OLD SLAVE MART MUSEUM 

This is the first African-American museum dedicated to the 35-40% slave population that once entered through Charleston. Located between Chalmers Street and Queen Street, this museum was built in 1859 and is filled with history, including an interview with a former slave. Many slaves were sold at this site and then transferred to Southern plantations. You’ll want to spend some time browsing through the artifacts and reading the vastly informative posters throughout.
