Don’t Lose Your Luggage! Traveling Tips

If you’ve ever lost your luggage, or dealt with a delayed flight you know how frustrated and utterly helpless you feel when these situations occur. We all like to believe that when we go on a vacation, none of these things will happen to us! What happens however, when the unexpected happens? How can you be prepared for something that is completely out of your control?

Survival Carry-on

Your carryon should always include a stash that you can live on for at least a couple of days. This should include a couple of spare outfits, all of your important travel docs, and cash. CASH. Not just debit cards, but real cash. You never know when you’ll find yourself in the one place that American Express, Visa and Mastercard aren’t accepted and needing to buy items desperately. You’ll also want to be sure to include your camera in this bag. Keeping your camera close at hand will insure you don’t miss out on a single moment of your vacation, regardless of what happens.

Before Your Cruise, Helpful Tips

Planning to explore the ocean blue on a cruise in 2014? Then these helpful tips are for you:

Check the Deck

The first place to start is by looking at the deck plan of the ship. When you choose your room make sure you know what is around it. If there is a club right below your room or a casino above it you may have to put up with noise all night long. Also make sure that you are closest to the amenities that you seek most. If you want to go to the pool every day you will probably want a room near the rear of the ship but if you are an early riser and want to beat the breakfast rush choose a room close to the dining area. Be aware of what is around you so you know what to expect.

Get to know your ship before you ever leave port. Know the perks and where things are. It will save you a lot of time and hassle as you make your way around the ship with ease. You could print out your deck plan and make notes on it or better do it electronically so you just need to whip out your phone.

Families want to celebrate New Year’s Eve with a bang. Perhaps at Times Square to watch the ball drop. Or go up to Wisconsin for a skiing holiday and fireworks on the mountains. Well, my family and I beg to differ because for the first time in years, we are going to the antithesis of New York City. A small town that looks like it came right out of a Norman Rockwell painting—Lexington, VA.

Tips for Female Solo Travelers

Modern women have been taking on the world single-handedly and are not simply confined at home anymore. They get their master’s degrees, have their own office, put up their own business—name it, and I’m sure there’s a woman involved. When it comes to traveling, more and more women have become emboldened on taking their own solo trips—and I don’t mean to the nearest store.  It has become a subtle rite of passage for some women to travel on their own to far-reaching places. In fact, a huge number of female solo travelers are baby boomers (born between 1946-1964) and single mothers. Even if you’re neither of the two, if you’re old enough to move out of your parents’ house, you can travel solo.

5 Spots You NEED to Scuba

The web is full of lists of the best dive sites, and I thought it was about time that Reef-N-Rail gave our take. Here are the 5 spots that we think every scuba diver should put on his or her bucket list.

5. Barrier Islands, North Carolina

This spot is ideal for scuba divers on a budget who don’t want to dig out their passports for a great location. While most of the spots on this list are marine life havens, Barrier Islands is known more for its wreck diving. Wrecks from the 16th century along with more recent ones including a German U-Boat from WWII make up the over 600 shipwrecks in this area. This spot is also much less crowded year round than most top scuba destinations, though diving in the winter does require a heavy wetsuit.

How Do You Find A Cheap Airport Limo Service With Ease?

Although airport limousines are considered to being more expensive compared to the standard taxis and shuttle buses, it is possible to find an affordable limo service. Imagine how relieving it would be to be welcomed by the quality services of reputable limo company especially after that long tiresome flight.

Book for one early enough

Advance booking not only gives the limo driver a chance to be on time, but it also saves you cash. Last minute booking tends to make the traveler desperate, and they may end up picking on any limo company that comes around without getting a glimpse of other better services that are available.

Ask for any discounts

When calling various limo companies, do not be afraid to ask if they offer discounts. You’re likely to come across a few that offer bonuses, especially if your trip falls during a special occasion such as Easter holidays or Christmas.
